Overview
Craig is a first-generation lawyer and lifelong Florida resident who has passionately represented his clients for the last 29 years. After working as a law clerk at the U.S. Attorney’s Office while attending law school full-time, he began his legal career prosecuting claims on behalf of the Florida Department of Revenue against non-custodial parents who failed to pay their court-ordered child support. Next, he worked at the public defender’s office where he was lead trial attorney in over 75 jury trials. Shortly after he transitioned from the public sector into private practice his childhood home was damaged, and the insurance company did everything it could to make the claims process difficult. Craig realized then that he wanted to represent policyholders whose insurers were not treating them fairly and honestly.
Craig was then recruited by one of the largest property insurance law firms in the country. He was the first attorney in the 30-year history of the firm to be named head of litigation nationwide. His cases included multi-million dollar residential and commercial fire claims in California (including successfully trying to verdict one of the first jury trials ever in the United States involving legalized marijuana); multi-million dollar commercial hailstorm claims in the Midwest; condominium association, commercial, and residential hurricane claim(s) in New Jersey and New York following Superstorm Sandy; commercial and condominium association hurricane claim(s) in Texas; and countless condominium association, commercial, and residential hurricane claims in Florida. Craig finished his tenure at his prior firm as the managing attorney where his duties included supervising 60+ attorneys in 12 offices across the country, including Puerto Rico, and also overseeing all complex litigation at the firm.
Craig has been lead trial counsel in over 100 jury trials to verdict throughout the course of his career. He lectured on property insurance law for over a decade at professional association conferences and seminars across the country. Over the years, he has spent a considerable amount of time in Tallahassee fighting against proposed insurance legislation that could negatively affect property owners in Florida. He served as general counsel for the largest public adjuster’s association in the United States, the Florida Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (“FAPIA”), for two years. After that, he served for one year as its legislative consultant. Craig was the national co-chair of the American Association of Justice’s Bad Faith Litigation Group for three consecutive years where he networked with other policyholder attorneys across the country gathering information and strategizing on how to combat the unfair claims handling practices of insurance companies. He has also served as a board member for the Federal Association for Insurance Reform.
Craig and his wife, Kelly, were married shortly after law school and have two children. They are the owners of Kubiak Law Group, PLLC, a boutique law firm representing policyholders whose insurance companies have wrongfully delayed, denied, or underpaid their property damage claims. Along with all the other members of the firm, Craig and Kelly dedicate each day to zealously advocating for their clients in order to obtain the fair and just results they deserve. In his spare time, Craig loves to travel abroad and go fishing.
